Fight with the Dream Club

Dream of the Week: Fight with the Dream Club

I’m a little inconsistent during the pandemic - even though we’ve been rolling this way for months. I’m just going to own it! Lots of stress all through August, the pressure of the upcoming election, continued civil unrest, and a brutal heatwave, have lead to a particularly lacking week. I’ll dip into recent dreams, and post a dream from the not-too-distant past of August 28, 2020. Basically yesterday.

Fight with the Dream Club

I’m at a medical clinic of some kind that feels homey and inviting with low, warm lighting. I approach the front desk, and a friend greets me with a friendly smile and a hearty laugh. She tells her colleagues that we know each other, and we talk about dreams. She tells me that she thinks that she is dreaming this whole thing right now. I tell her that I think I am dreaming this whole thing right now! We agree that we are probably both asleep at home right now, dreaming the same thing and at the same time. The conversation makes me realize that I am in fact dreaming. ✨

Now lucid, I continue chatting with my friend. She informs me that there is a “Dream Club” in the cafeteria, and I should talk to them about this dream world we’re both in. I think it’s a great idea, and I head over to them. I approach the Dream Group and stand by their table, immediately launching into the story of me and my friend. A young, goth-looking woman is the first one to get mad at me.

“It is impossible to share dreams with someone. What you’re describing can’t exist,” she barks at me. “And besides, this is not a dream.”

I’m genuinely surprised by her response.

“I know it’s not been proven, but maybe it’s possible? I’m open to wild ideas since we still know so little about dreams. Don’t you guys talk about that in the group?”

“No, it’s not real.”

I’m confused by her resistance and look to see how the others are responding to this exchange. Everyone else looks angry with me too. I’m baffled.

“But this is a dream, look I’ll show you.”

I perform a few reality checks in front of them, but I know they will fail. And they do. I’m now frustrated because I’m absolutely certain I am dreaming. I’m confused by the resistance from a group of dreamers. I pick up a glass and throw it at the window. It bounces off the glass and floats back to me.

“See, look! It has to be a dream,” I shout at them.

They remain unconvinced, and think I’m way out of line, behaving like a maniac.

I throw several more glasses to prove that it’s a dream for them. They all float back to me.

“Can’t you see?”

I’m distracted by a commotion behind me and turn to see what is going on. Everything seems normal, so I turn back to the Dream Group. I’m shocked to see that there is now broken glass all over the floor as if the glasses were never floating back to me. Did I make all of that up? Is this actually a dream?

They all look up at me as if I’ve lost my mind, angry and afraid that I’ll throw more glasses.

The dream fades.

ProTip: Always question your reality, awake and asleep. Maybe even your lucid dream isn’t what you think it is?
